    Wasn t sure what to expect from this book and can honestly say I really liked it I really didn t see the ending coming at least, not quite the way it turned out which is always nice While this book very well could have turned into an examination of a major human moral question, it s not It s the story of a boy and how a couple of summers of his life stand out and why It s not preachy, it s just a lovely illustration snapshot of life and people I find it well written, an easy read, enjoyab Wasn t sure what to expect from this book and can honestly say I really liked it I really didn t see the ending coming at least, not quite the way it turned out which is always nice While this book very well could have turned into an examination of a major human moral question, it s not It s the story of a boy and how a couple of summers of his life stand out and why It s not preachy, it s just a lovely illustration snapshot of life and people I find it well written, an easy read, enjoyable and even touching at times I didn t give it 5 stars mainly because I felt the ending to be rather abrupt Additionally, while I enjoyed it, I don t think this will end up on my read it again and again list, which is where most of my 5 star ratings go

    I received this book as a Firstreads Goodreads It was an easy read with some predictability and yet some surprises as well Overall I enjoyed the book and would recommend it to middle school readers.
