After reading some of the less than positive reviews of this book on Goodreads, I started Undertaking Love with a little trepidation I must have been reading a different book though as I absolutely loved it Undertaking love had the perfect mix of old and young, gay and straight, good and evil, drama and laughs I giggled, cried, shouted and sighed. The secondary characters in this book are a particular win for me, Ivan and Dora were hilarious at points, heartbreaking at others, Dan was the perf After reading some of the less than positive reviews of this book on Goodreads, I started Undertaking Love with a little trepidation I must have been reading a different book though as I absolutely loved it Undertaking love had the perfect mix of old and young, gay and straight, good and evil, drama and laughs I giggled, cried, shouted and sighed. The secondary characters in this book are a particular win for me, Ivan and Dora were hilarious at points, heartbreaking at others, Dan was the perfect rogue, who turned out to be an absolute darling in the end Jonny was definitely the funniest gay in the village and Melanie and Rupert added just the right amount of badness to the story Emma and Toms side story worked really well against Marla and Gabriel s and I really didn t want the book to end I hope Kat French decides to write sometales about this little Shropshire village and the community that lives there, as I found it absolutely charming, with just the right amount of spice thrown in I was provided with a copy of this book by Netgalley, it was my pleasure to provide the above honest review in thanks for the privilege

This book was a shaky one to review I would end up liking aspects of it and then I would have to force myself to sit and read through others I loved the whole plot idea and I think the bones of this book is amazing, but it dragged on and there were just way too many side stories happening I had to force myself to read the last 20 pages because I felt it was unnecessary and predictable in a way that wasn t endearing The romances and there were many considering all the POVs were seriously un This book was a shaky one to review I would end up liking aspects of it and then I would have to force myself to sit and read through others I loved the whole plot idea and I think the bones of this book is amazing, but it dragged on and there were just way too many side stories happening I had to force myself to read the last 20 pages because I felt it was unnecessary and predictable in a way that wasn t endearing The romances and there were many considering all the POVs were seriously unrealistic and completely stretched Where it wasn t being far fetched, it was underdeveloped and laking formation I wantedpersonality More details And if I m honest, not so many happy endings Ahem, Emily That character s outcome and relationships would be completely different if we were being real I really wanted to love it, but I ended up only sort of liking it I think I just talked myself intoof a 2.75 rating as I wrote this review

This andreviews www.theromancecover.com This book has it all I was in a total book funk when I stared this and I couldn t have picked a better book to get me out of it and cheer me up This is like your favourite rom com in a book But at the same time it s so muchKat manages romance, a little bit of steam, lots of laughter with some fabulous one liners and tears I cried, like proper needed tissues and couldn t just use my sleeve tears There are a lot of very touching moments i This andreviews www.theromancecover.com This book has it all I was in a total book funk when I stared this and I couldn t have picked a better book to get me out of it and cheer me up This is like your favourite rom com in a book But at the same time it s so muchKat manages romance, a little bit of steam, lots of laughter with some fabulous one liners and tears I cried, like proper needed tissues and couldn t just use my sleeve tears There are a lot of very touching moments in this book and they re not always much to do with the romance between Marla and Gabe which helps give a great feel for the side characters There s also lots of LOL moments too my favourite being when Marla was on the floor hiding on her Birthday and Gabe was knocking on the door then he posted a note through the letter box, what he had written on it was brilliant All the characters have a story and big parts to play even Bluey the dog In each chapter there are parts told from the main group Which sounds like it could be a muddle but its not and it totally works..It lets us get a feel for everyone and your kept flicking the pages to find out what s going on then it flips to another character and its like mini cliffhangers in ever chapter This is genius writing as it keeps the reader gripped Marla is a tough cookie to crack and has no intentions of getting involved with Gabe cause he s not a safe option for her But she can t seem to stop how she reacts to him And how could she..Gabe is a hot, tall, dark, handsome, tattooed, motorbike riding, Irish undertaker Need I sayNo not really Gables accent was enough to make a nun s knicker elastic twang And he does the sweetest things for her despite the fact she keeps pushing him away Which annoyed me And he knew he wanted her he just had to convince her about it Because the simple, inescapable truth was that from the moment Marla Jacobs had opened the chapel doors and deliberately insulted him, Gabe had known with utter certainty that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her It was just a shame that she couldn t stand the sight of him then This book is WELL worth your money and your time reading I read it really quick But it wasn t a short read it was a long read so there was no rush in the writing everything flowed really well and wasn t all rushed towards the end like some books are The ending is great and it could be left just like that but it could also take off from there with anyone of them as the main story but with everyone else still in the background I would love to readoops with this cast ARC provided in exchange for an honest review

Wedding Chapel goes head to head with Funeral Parlour can almost see the headline in the paper And of course, the arch enemies, Marla Jacobs and Gabe Ryan have a sizzling attraction Sprinkle in a great crew of supporting characters and you have a fab romcom. What I liked Attention to detail was spot on It was the little things the characters did that added depth, and a great trait of Kat French s writing skills It was all super easy to visualise I adored Dora and Ivan, such a sweet couple Wedding Chapel goes head to head with Funeral Parlour can almost see the headline in the paper And of course, the arch enemies, Marla Jacobs and Gabe Ryan have a sizzling attraction Sprinkle in a great crew of supporting characters and you have a fab romcom. What I liked Attention to detail was spot on It was the little things the characters did that added depth, and a great trait of Kat French s writing skills It was all super easy to visualise I adored Dora and Ivan, such a sweet couple, and there were some real stand out LOL moments, especially the dinner with Marla s mum Totally cringeworthy The chemistry between Marla and Gabe was fab too some steamy scenes that are probably a bit naughtier than in your standard romcom book. What didn t rock my world Although Marla and Gabe were great, I didn t really get interested in their relationship until a way into the book partly because the relationships between the other characters hooked meand partly because they d done a great job of avoiding each other up until then Although it started with them, it kind of morphedinto the story of Tom and Emily cute couple, too they were like the quiet rock of the story for me Would liked to have known the outcome with crazy Melanie, too.Overall, this was a great, great read and it really wouldn t surprise me if this got optioned for a film I can totally see it on the big screen, and with so many great supporting characters, I d love to readabout the characters from Beckleberry Definitely recommended

I desperately wanted to love this book, but sadly I just barely liked it I thought the plot sounded funny, light and cute In ways it was, but there was so much cheating in this book it depressed me I don t have a problem with cheating in the books I read if its done right, which here it wasn t With the exception of two of the actual characters this book focused around EVERYONE was cheating on someone, it really put me off.I wasn t particularly fond of the main heroine well either of them re I desperately wanted to love this book, but sadly I just barely liked it I thought the plot sounded funny, light and cute In ways it was, but there was so much cheating in this book it depressed me I don t have a problem with cheating in the books I read if its done right, which here it wasn t With the exception of two of the actual characters this book focused around EVERYONE was cheating on someone, it really put me off.I wasn t particularly fond of the main heroine well either of them really she was mean and immature at times and for a business woman she was wasn t very understanding She expected to get her way and when she didn t she acted out like a child throwing a tantrum There were times when she would start to be a better character and I would get excited thinking there was going to be a turn around just to be disappointed when she did or said something that made no sense The book really wasn t that bad, I did read the whole book and I really liked the hero and some of the side characters If I would have known about the cheating and the fact that there is little to no real interaction between the main h H until the literal end of the book I might have enjoyed the bookIf the plot sounds engaging to you and you want to read it you definitely should because the cheating and main character might no rub you the way it did me Happy Reading

3.5 StarsFunny, romantic, and dangerously sexy, UNDERTAKING LOVE is a delightful debut from an exciting new voice in Women s fiction QUOTE frome NetgalleyUndertaking Love is in many ways your typical chick lit To be honest I expected it to be a rom com And it does have its funny moments But I wouldn t actually describe it as a rom com The setting and many other factors did remind me of some of the great English rom com movies Rupert being actually described as a but of a Hugh Grant lo 3.5 StarsFunny, romantic, and dangerously sexy, UNDERTAKING LOVE is a delightful debut from an exciting new voice in Women s fiction QUOTE frome NetgalleyUndertaking Love is in many ways your typical chick lit To be honest I expected it to be a rom com And it does have its funny moments But I wouldn t actually describe it as a rom com The setting and many other factors did remind me of some of the great English rom com movies Rupert being actually described as a but of a Hugh Grant look alike definitely drove that point home evenThe plot is well as romantic novels goes, rather in the normal cliche set up To be honest the initial set up the wedding chapel against the undertaker somehow made me have much higher expectations Because that set up is a very clever idea. The book is written in several point of views And actually I think in to many POVs, because it does give too much away I think the fact that one knows earlier on what Rupert thinks takes all the surprise away, same with MelanieThere are very touching moments in this book and they actually not much to do with the romance between Marla and Gabe I found their romance somewhat disappointing I honestly don t really fancy insta lust in the first place. but insta love It kinda did kill the vibe for me It was too quick too soon, and I wish there would have beenbanter I found it kinda hard to reconcile Gabe s reaction to meeting Marla Let s face it, he is supposed to be a wee bit of a bad ass hottie with a cute Irish accent i would have preferredbad ass and less smitten kitten. What French did really well in my opinion are the different relation ship between the friends I honestly really like the circle of friends and their dynamic And those above mentioned touching moments were all to do with those friends My favorite scene was the family dinner It kinda highlighted the entire dynamic, with a wicked sense of black humor The character building was kinda interesting Because while I did like Gabe and Marla I found Emily, Johnny, Ivan and Co basically all the friends were given muchinteresting personalities French showed real finesse writing them and I felt like I knew them at the end of the book They were the unexpected and unusual in this book And as a result I was wayinterested what will happen for example with Emily s situation than with Marla and Gabe Their storyline was set so clearly right in the beginning Gabe and Marla as characters were in my opinion quite a cliche And while I didn t mind it as much, I found myself kinda disappointed by them Because in compare to the support characters they fell a bit flat Their dangerously sexy romance uhm was sweet but not near dangerous. The villains were totally disappointing in that they were very cliche and too extreme so they felt cartoon ish The end was a bit to tied up and neat for me EVERY single thing was settled and got a HEA Despite those things, I found myself reading this in one setting And really enjoyed French s prose To be honest, I have to admit that I am rather critical and I think lovers of this genre might enjoy this bookthan I did An interesting debut, I am definitely looking out for the next book French is writing ARC was provided by Publishers through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review Thank you
