Surviving September 11th is the personal story of Dan Holdridge and how he survived 9 11 and its aftermath The book doesn t concern itself solely with how Dan escaped the Pentagon, rather it focuses on the emotional and mental impacts that the attack had on him For all intents and purposes this man shouldn t have survived the attack and for awhile he believes this Then, finally, one day it hits him He survived because he had a purpose, one that he had to find The book describes the phases o Surviving September 11th is the personal story of Dan Holdridge and how he survived 9 11 and its aftermath The book doesn t concern itself solely with how Dan escaped the Pentagon, rather it focuses on the emotional and mental impacts that the attack had on him For all intents and purposes this man shouldn t have survived the attack and for awhile he believes this Then, finally, one day it hits him He survived because he had a purpose, one that he had to find The book describes the phases of shock, trauma, fear, sorrow, survivors guilt and finally how Dan learned to let go of hate and found a new appreciation for life Laced through the book are the questions that everyone has asked Why did this happen How could God allow this to happen Why am I here For Dan these questions were answered through 9 11 The horrific events of that day help him to see that he wasn t living life as it was meant He learned to appreciate everything and everyone he had and figuring out how to share this with everyone.Be warned this book his heavily complimented with religion However, this isn t some shameless attempt to show how Christianity perseveres through tragedy Dan fully believes in God and his religion and wants to illustrate the ways it shaped his life before, during and after 9 11 Yes, he does make a remark about atheists at the beginning of the book However, in my opinion, it wasn t a disparaging remark He simply believes that everyone at one point in their life comes into contact with their spirituality At some point people pray, whether it is to say God, help me or I just want oneday I don t believe it was a dig toward atheists

The personal story is riveting, but this is a great big written commercial for Christianity He pretty much offends anyone who believes differently in the very beginning by saying in his opinion there are no actual atheists or agnostics That when something bad happens to you you automatically become a believer and you believe in the Christian version of God I thought that was a pretty cruel statement considering the number of survivors that aren t religious or believe in a different type of The personal story is riveting, but this is a great big written commercial for Christianity He pretty much offends anyone who believes differently in the very beginning by saying in his opinion there are no actual atheists or agnostics That when something bad happens to you you automatically become a believer and you believe in the Christian version of God I thought that was a pretty cruel statement considering the number of survivors that aren t religious or believe in a different type of God story The writing is acceptable As with many e books, there are editing issues, but they aren t enough to take away from the story The forward by a US General was exceptional, but the story itself is repetitive It helps show the author s state of mind and repetitive thinking, but it also slows the writing down I will say this, I never felt that I had missed out by choosing Girl Scouts instead of 4 H, but this made me wish I had been in 4 H as a kid I wish Mr Holdridge the best in his continuing journey
