My 7 yr old son recently decided he wanted to learn how to sew Unfortunately so much of the sewing kits books and supplies are geared towards girls He noticed it but I told him that lots of men sew and that it's a useful skill So we got him a kit He was excited and told a friend who then teased him for using a girl kit UghEnter this book Not only is it full of beautiful photographs that help teach sewing steps I was pleased to see how many boys were included in the photographs sewing just like their female counterparts The projects are fun and intrigue both girls and boys My son absolutely loves this book It is wonderfully written amd photographed I highly recommend it

We bought this book for my daughter for her 7th birthday and she absolutely loves it She’s made numerous projects from this book and she’s had it about 4 weeks Although she needs assistance here and there she’s completed some of the projects on her own The descriptions are great and the projects are cute and appropriate simple The pictures are nice too and my daughter loves looking through it at the kids and reading their uotes about sewing This book is wonderful for sparking creativity The only negative thing I could say is that the book doesn’t really describe how to tie off a stitch; they just basically say “tie a knot”If you have a crafty child that is interested in sewing don’t hesitate buy this bookI’ve included pictures of the following projects So Soft Pillow Stuffies Apple Pincushion Book of Needles Cute Coaster and uiet MouseIf you found this review helpful give it a thumbs up

My granddaughter wants to learn to sew I did what all grandmothers do I went on and found this book I mistakenly thought it included the needles thread scraps of fabric something Nada THIS IS NOT A BOOK FOR KIDS IT'S A BOOK FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE TEACHING KIDS False advertising Or just advertising by omission Either way I'm going shopping tomorrow

My 7 year old daughter loves this book It is so well written that she can read it and do the activities with little assistance from me It is a great start to hand sewing She even made a gift for her sister a bagpurse Instead of following instructions exactly she added her own flair We love this book

After checking it out and renewing this book from the library we finally bought it on The projects are items they will actually use and sewing school #2 is just as great Perfect gift for a boy or girl as I sew myself most of the things needed we already have but this was the first time she learned how to start and finish a project with a machine and by hand all by herself with a pattern It will last for years as it shows the simple basic ways to make everything but also photos if you really get into techniue and turn things right side out etc

I have no background in sewing When I bought this book I thought my kids and I could learn a new skill together I copied the supply list at the beginning and went to a craft store The nice lady in the sewing department whom I'm assuming knows something about sewing could not find exact matches for the supplies She led me to things that she thought were the same thing but it was a frustrating experience I wish this book did not assume any prior knowledge If the lady in the sewing department didn't know what the book was talking about how I was I supposed to I'm giving the book 2 stars because I like the binding and if I had prior knowledge I probably could have led my kids through it Instead we gave up because I needed thorough explanation

Bought this for my daughter who was 7 and wanted to learn to sew I can't say enough about this book The projects range in difficulty and she absolutely loved making things herself Excellent beginner book for kids learning how to hand sew Includes patterns Get the spiral bound version

I ordered this book for my almost 10 year old niece She will be getting a sewing mahine for Christmas in a couple months so I got this for her birthday at the end if September along with a sewing basket and hand sewing supplies I looked through this book and I WANT IT I am a seamstress by profession and I thought this book was genius It is almost a shame it is marketed towards kids because it is honestly a great beginning sewing manual It shows you everything you need to know from how to knot your thread to thread your needle and first stitches I am so pleased with this book

This is perfect for any child that is interested in making things Yes it is American and therefore the directions are in inches not centimetres but it is a wonderful introduction to sewing and how to deal with patterns The patterns are supplied in a 'pocket' in the inside of the back page Very clever and clear patterns for 5 years and upwards making small toys by hand sewing to making useful items with a sewing machine eg a skirt or an apron or cushions etc Illustrations make everything very clear and work by children also making these things are shown So the work does look home made and originalCutting the patterns is so well shown Very difficult to find such a great introduction for children on dealing with patterns and cutting out material and learning the basics in such an exciting way

A fab little book my daughter loves it though I didn't realise this one is for younger sewers and there is a second one for older or advanced ones the projects in here are very basic and simple so if you want something a bit harder go for the second book

I purchased this to accompany a sewing box for my 5 year old granddaughter she is a bit of a perfectionist already so the great thing about this book is that the sewing projects have been completed by children and are not all perfect It starts with the most simple task and goes through to making simple articles with a first machine It also has a comprehensive list of items reuired for your first sewing basket

I run a 'Stitch club' at school It's for years 3 6 ages 6 11 The children really like the layout it has inspired them My own 7 year old wants to try and make all of these as soon as possible If you are crafty and can support your child then it is a good buy

This is an excellent book with clear instructions easily understood It goes right back to the basics and would be good for adults who have never sewed I gave this to both my 10 year old and 7 year old grand daughters for Christmas and they love the book They have tackled several projects with great success
